The following dates for various training modules have been arranged for Leaders
in Bexley. Last year the Training Team had to cancel some of these modules
as there were insufficient numbers attending. All Leaders have a committment
to Training, so I am sure this will not happen with these! But I need to be
advised at least two weeks before the dates if you wish to attend so that the
Team know whether they have a viable course, or not. I appreciate this does
not give much time for the modules taking place on 9th and 10th February, so
if you wish to attend these, please let me know straightaway.
Saturday 9th February
Module 11 - Administration (Section Leaders)
Module 12 - Providing a Balanced Programme - a useful tool for any leader.
Module 19 - International Scouting - a good follow on from the Jamboree year.
Sunday 10th Fenruary
Module 13 - Growing the Movement (Section Leaders)
Module 14 - Young People Today - how to understand them.
Module 15 - Challenging Behaviour - how to cope and support them.
Saturday 29th March
Module 6 - Changes In Scouting - the development of the Movement.
Module 7 - Valuing Diversity
Module 8 - Skills Of Leadership - develop yours.
Module 9 - Working With Adults - it's all about teamwork.
Sunday 30th March
Module 5 - Fundamental Values of Scouting - why a Law and Promise.
Module 17 - Activities Outdoors - put the OUT in scOUTing.
Module18 - Practical Skills - develop them further.
All these sessions will be held in Bexleyheath (actual venue to be advised)
and will cost £5 each - although if you attend 2 on any one day, you
get the other one (or two) free!
Please let me know of the modules you wish to atend as early as possible -

Thursday 3rd April
Module 25 - Assessing Learning
This session is aimed at all those Leaders who wish to assist others in their
Training - and is FREE! It is particularly ideal for exisitng wood badge holders
who can act as a training advisor to new Leaders. It is also of benefit to
GSLs and District Team members who have to support section leaders.
Saturday 3rd May
Module 16 part 1 - Camping Skills
To be held at 4th Barnehurst Hall, Bexleyheath
Saturday/Sunday 17th/18th May
Module 16 part 2 - Nights Away Residential
To be held at Wilberforce Scout Camp, Keston
The cost of both parts of Module 16 is £50 inclusive. If you wish to
take your section away for an overnight activity this module must be undertaken,
although it does not give you the automatic right to lead an overnight activity
unless you hold a Nights Away Permit.
All these modules are open to all Leaders and Helpers, either as an initial
introduction to a subject or as a refresher. I would encourage all Leaders
to attend them - and would ask you to do the same.
I am currently arranging a Getting Started session which will cover Modules
1-3; further details of this will follow shortly.
Module 10 - First Aid Appointed Person

Cost is £20 per person, of which half is paidby the District upon claiming.Application
forms for these courses willbe available a few weeks prior to eachdate.

These courses will only be run if sufficient numbers make the courses viable.
Dates for assessment (normally in the week following the course) will be decided
at a later date and when the course is confirmed.
All these dates, and a deeper insight into the Modules, will appear shortly on
